What makes a teacher great?
I believe a teacher becomes a favourite of many students because the teacher tried to look at themselves in their students place. If a teacher self acclaim as superior and just wants to finish the subject, only the rank holders would still be remembering them, rest forget as years go by.
A teacher has gone through the same phase once when he or she was a student. A teacher knows when something feels uninterested and when something needs to be stopped based on the response of students. If you are not a good observer as a teacher, you failed at that moment itself.
I will take my mother as an example. My mom is a retired headmistress who was teaching Mathematics in her teaching career. Now, mathematics is the one subject which the majority fear and run away including myself. She was a tough and strict mom at home, but to her students she was their beloved sharada(name of my mother) teacher.
Why did my mom become beloved and how did I know?
During the holidays, mom used to take me to her school since there was no one at home. I was a CBSE student and my off days were different from the state syllabus, mom was a state school teacher. Whenever I visit her school, a bunch of kids would come to the staffroom and smile at me. They wanted to see their favourite teacher’s daughter, that’s the murmur I heard.
How did she become beloved?
I have seen my mom do craftworks in the night, preparing shapes using hard objects or cardboard like a school project she was doing. When I used to ask what this was for, she said tomorrow I need to teach about the shapes and its area. Kids love when they are in curious mode and some objects are in front of them. Mom knows exactly what can make Mathematics interesting to students.
As a teacher she was doing her homework as well. So a teacher who gives homework and does theirs can become a great teacher one day.
I have also had teachers who understood their students well and we then daily wait for their class alone. It is a talent and not everyone can master it.

I began with a book. It felt intriguing and worth trying: The book on the taboo against knowing who you are, by Alan Watts.
Just a few pages into the book, there was an interesting analogy on Buddhism and Christianity. It also covered the ideology of belief in God.

For a few years, I was fond of following through books related to beliefs and culture. Whenever I see or read through the Bible or Bhagavad Gita, I notice many things are preached similarly. It seems people have understood it differently. However, the ideology behind each is to focus on ourselves. It is not about the myths or stories behind them.
It is crazy, how people interpret things in their own fashion and fight on these aspects. The following ideology which the author says he would teach his kids sounds interesting :

He demonstrated a really effective way of tackling children’s questions about the existence of God.
I researched more about this author. In his later life, Alan Watts was not connected to Roman Catholicism. He was also not linked with Protestantism. He began as an Anglican priest, but later became more interested in Buddhism and Eastern philosophy. He eventually left the Episcopal Church and focused on popularizing Zen and Eastern religious and philosophical ideas.
Everything made sense, how his book leaned towards Vedanta myths and ideologies. Not much people try to compare between these beliefs, since criticism is an easy way in these topics.
I am not sure how the book explores self-discovery. It addresses the taboo about knowing who you are. However, I surely liked the author’s mindset over the beliefs.

What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?
I am always curious to know the following
1. how a high court judge or supreme court judge sleeps well after punishing a not guilty person mistakenly?
2. how a police officer takes a chance to beat the shit out of an innocent person to just prove the person not guilty.
3. how the prime minister of any country passes a bill which was a wrong move and becomes the sensational headlines in the media the next day.
So yeah If I do get a chance to do a job for just one day, it would be one of these. I would like to be either PM of any country or a DSP or a high court or supreme court judge. Crazy as it sounds but the way how these works sometimes makes me wonder how a human mind makes decisions unbiased.
And all of these jobs if I do take for more than a day, I am sure I will go mad.
It’s fascinating how positions of great authority like a judge, police officer, or prime minister, carry such enormous weight that one wrong decision can alter lives or entire nations. I often wonder how those in power reconcile with their mistakes, especially when they’re irreversible. Just imagining myself in their shoes, even for a day, is overwhelming. The human mind may strive for fairness, but biases, pressure, and limitations often get in the way. Respect to those who try to do justice, but a deeper reflection is surely needed on how we hold power accountable.
This is a personal opinion and not meant to target or defame any individual or institution.
Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.
This is in 2009 when I had to have surgery because of certain health conditions. At those times the surgery amount was in lakhs and even though my parents were earning, the amount was quite larger than what they had saved for years.
Dad somehow arranged the money by hook or crook , surgery was successful and then came as a surprise to my dads bank account. It was the same amount back into the account. Dad wondered who did this!! Then comes a call from my distant relative of mothers family. He said : This is for my cute tiny little rachana. Not expecting anything in return.

Background to the story, he used to send greeting cards every new year with the message to me and brother as tiny little kids even though we were all grown up. My mother and him grew up together in the same house so those both were close cousins( sorry I am bad in the family tree explanation!!). Every time I wondered why he had so much concern with our family.
But the time when had sent money to my father, that day he became a favourite for me. Even though we never talked , I will always have good feeling when I think of this relative.
In this selfish world , if there is even one selfless guy who gives money out of respect and nothing is expected in return then you are lucky !!
If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
I have a very weak book or movie memory. Disadvantage of it is, I will not recollect anything more than a year which was read or watched. The advantage of it is I can read it multiple times or watch it multiple times I guess 😝.
So within the reach of my memory, the character I would want to be is the psychologist from the most viral netflix series Adolescence. Imagine someone giving you a death stare or poking you knowingly and you just do not have any reaction. That kind of strong personality is what I want to be. How hard the conversation is or how insulting or how provoking the opposite person might be pulling up, but you stick to the game plan and have uno reverse to the same person. Once this psychologist is all alone , she puts out all that anger, sadness or emotions she would have taken in while sitting in front of the person. And that is totally fine, after all we are humans, not robots to be emotionless. The goal is not to give the opposite person the chance to have a victory in the case of the worst situations.

Smile is contagious , always…
But the smile itself is reminding the parted soul
Not the person who I have shared a space or born with
Not the person who I have laughed with
Not the person who I admire as well
Not the person who Am a big fan of !!!

But still a stinging sadness that hurts all over
Born in royal family but no where the inch of ego of it
You will be forever in every one’s heart
You will be the forever everyone’s Appu
Life sometimes plays tricks on you, sometimes you fall to it
But sometimes it is destined for falling to it.
Let that smile now spread across the angels above 🙂🙂
